PORTSLADE 2008

  • by Fredric Frennessen

The first bank holiday in May turned out to be a fantastic day in all senses. The sun had finally come out after months of hiding and you could feel the summer warmth in the air. In addition DanceRite was going to have a great day.

Due to personal and medical reasons, a few DanceRite pupils had to withdraw at the last minute. We wish them well and hope to see them back soon.

Jonathan, Vicki & Fredric

The school has grown since last year and there were a few new faces on the scene wanting to make their mark; Dan & Catherine, students from Guildford; Amanda and her sister Amber from Camberley; Jeanette & Sandy from Basingstoke.

In order to cope with increased demand for lessons, DanceRite has teamed up with a former dance partner of Vicki. Jonathan Morrison is an ISTD-Licentiate qualified teacher who has a vast amount of medal experience and has competed on the open competition circuit from a young age.

This year the dances had changed slightly from the norm. There was Paso in the Bronze section and Viennese Waltz in Gold. All pupils had worked very hard for the event and it paid dividends at the end of the day.

19 dancers entered in their respective grades and a few of them partnered up in the couples event.

At the end of the day DanceRite was proud to leave with the following results:

Sandy winning her Ballroom

13 winners
7 runners up
4 thirds

It is important to note everyone had good results from semi finals to finalists.

It is by far the best ever result achieved by the school and the Principals, Fredric & Vicki were very pleased. With anticipation DanceRite looks forward to the next event at Berkhamsted.

-Bring it on!
