Fredric & Vicki represents UK in Toronto

Vicki & Fredric at the World Classic Showdance Championships

2002 World Classic Showdance Championships was held in Toronto, Canada on the 18th - 21st April. Fredric & Vicki were representing the UK on this occasion.
The event was held at the Inn on the Park Hotel in Ontario, Toronto. The competition was incorporated with the organisers of CanAm championship. A big thank you goes out to Jon Karakis and Ann Harding for all of the hard work they put in to make this a successful competition.
There were many competitors participating over this long weekend, covering different grades and age groups. This made for some very interesting and varied viewing.

On the North American dance scene there are additional competitions to what we are used to here in Europe, namely American Ballroom and American Rhythm.
American Ballroom is a 4 dance event (W/T/FT/VW) with lots of lines, shapes and separation from the conventional hold. It is exciting to watch and pleases the audience.

Vicki strikes a pose

American Rhythm is similar to American Ballroom apart from it is the latin branch. It is a five dance event were Swing, Bolero and Mambo has replaced Jive, Paso Double and Samba.

The World Classic Showdance Championship took part on the Sunday. There were lots of good couples with fantastic choreography, lovely lifts and exciting music.

Vicki & Fredric's theme was taken from an overture of Gershwin's famous tunes. It was well received and appreciated by the audience. -Who can ask for anything more!

Just short of the semi final didn't dampen the spirit of Fredric & Vicki as they were very pleased with there performance.
Winners this year were once again Massimo Giorgianni & Alessia Manfredini from Italy.
