Blackpool 2008

The build up to this year's November Blackpool started in the summer. All the pupils had worked tremendously hard and applied themselves to improve their dancing for what turned out to be a cold, damp and foggy weekend. This didn’t prevent the spirit of the team. Everyone was cheery and excited at the prospect of what lay ahead.

The competition, held by ISTD was once again a well organised event. Due to the vast amount of entries, the format had changed slightly which caused some minor upset in the camp. Having said that, the mammoth task making sure the time schedule was running smoothly, looked like a breeze for the onlookers. Well done ISTD.
The Dance Show
On the Saturday we were treated to a spectacular show by Jonathan Wilkins and Hazel Newbury MBE. Five ballroom dances from one of the best couples in the world brought the house down. This left all DanceRite pupils with an impression which will last for a long time and set the mood for the following day.
Year on year the school has grown. This Blackpool, almost forty people from DanceRite attended of which 23 of them were dancers. At 8.00 on the Sunday morning the doors opened. Two hours later we had DanceRite competitors on the floor and it wouldn’t end until 13 hours later!
During the competition just about every emotion was experienced: From heart wrenching disappointment to euphoric happiness. In other words, nothing out of the ordinary for a competition day.
The Results
Once the dust had settled, DanceRite had notched up a tally of six champions. A fantastic achievement!
Result:
1st place 6
2nd place 3
3rd place 2
4th place 9
5th place 4
6th place 3

Fredric and Vicki, the principals of DanceRite, were very pleased with the result and are now looking forward to the next event in Bournemouth, January 2009.
