I awoke on Monday morning feeling a little stiff after a day’s dancing at the Kent Ballroom and Latin Qualifier with the DanceRite Team and remembered the day…

The Competition began in good spirits at Medway Park in Gillingham on the late sunny Sunday afternoon of 18^th April. Regular and new faces competed to keep up the impressive performance levels that DanceRite has achieved over the years.

And, weren’t we all fabulous. The lady dancers were a vision from head to toe, many in dresses made by the talented Jonathan, Rachel, Jo and Christine. Sparkling hair pieces were followed by beautifully, coloured dresses that whirled around the floor with satin shoes beneath them.  Even the heel protectors worn to safe guard the leisure centres brand new sprung wooden floor from the day’s jives, cha cha chas, quick steps, tangos and looked the part. At their sides of course were our male dancers, who I’m pleased to report are increasing in numbers.

As you all know Vicki and Jonathan were dancing over the ocean and unable to join us. Fred braved the day alone and I don’t think we exhausted him too much. The team pulled together and mixed and matched partners to make sure everyone had a replacement Vicki or Jonathan to dance with.

On behalf of Fred, Vicki and Jonathan: a big thank you to all those who helped out.

As always the close nit dancers cheered each other on congratulating the victorious and empathising with the disappointed few. No matter the highs and lows there was a great vibe among team Dancerite and results to be proud of.

They say time flies when you’re having fun and it wasn’t long before the late evening crept in bringing the comp to a close. We left with medals in hand or in my case strategies for how to improve my dance moves for the next event; hopefully I’ll pick up a few at the dancing acting class coming up shortly.
